An Evening with Annemor Sundbø
A Hidden Secret: Setesdal Antique Embroidery - Løyesaum
Annemor Sundbø is a textile designer and teacher of weaving. She owns and operates a knitting workshop "Ose Ullvare" in Setesdal, about 110 km from Kristiansand, Norway. To learn more about Annemor visit her website here.
The Løyesaum-class will introduce you to the technique and you will be able to make your own neck lining for a lice patterned Setesdal sweater. The embroidery is a "free" folk-art like writing poems. These embroideries are never copied, they are always individual expressions.
The workshop includes a slide presentation and discussion of the Bohus Stickning industry; its origins, development, and eventual demise thirty years after it began. Participants will have an opportunity to see the many genuine, museum quality Bohus garments and accessories that Susanna has collected over the past 11 years.
For the hands-on portion of the workshop, students will be using fine yarn and small needles to create wristlets in the Blue Shimmer so patience is required as well! Bohus patterns present particular challenges to knitters, even experienced ones, and part of the time will be spent discussing and comparing the Bohus knitting techniques to other, better-known, multi-color techniques.
